This page presents a selection of propeller data collected using the SALIENGI measurement setup. The setup measures propeller thrust, torque and rotational velocity. The test rig can be used for static tests and non-static tests (advancing flow tests).
The graphs above present the thrust (N) and thrust coefficient against rotational velocity of the APC 9x4.5E propeller in static condition. The maximum thrust recorded was 6N (equivalent to 0.61 kg) at a rotational velocity of 8000RPM. One can notice thrust exhibiting a quadratic trend with rotational velocity as expected from propeller theory.
The thrust coefficient is shown on the right hand side. The thrust coefficient is a non-dimensional parameter meaning that it does not have any units. This parameter can be used to compare the performance of different propellers, like with like.
