Static condition (static testing)

is the analogue of hover flight in which the relation between the propeller disk axial velocity and the free stream velocity is 0m/s. (ie. the propeller in relation to the air in front of the disk is stationary)

Advancing flow testing

is the analogue of a propeller travelling through air, in which there is a relative difference between the propeller disk axial velocity and the free stream velocity which is larger than 0m/s.
